DuShon Brown- Acting: DuShon is a FieldCrest artist-in-residence as well as a working actress who is registered with SAG, AFTRA, and AEA. Her television rolls include E.R. and Prison Break. Her film rolls include "Wedding Bell Blues", "Rock Bottom", and "Following Maria". DuShon's dialects include conversational Spanish, West Indies and southern American which have landed her voice-over work with Coca-Cola, Jewels Osco, McDonalds, and Kraft just to name a few.
Fallon Simpson- Modeling: Fallon has always had a love for the arts. She got her chance to showcase her talent at Florida A&M University where she modeled with the Epicurean Fashion Experience. Fallon also coaches contestants in pageants; including Miss Young Gifted and Black, and the Gold Pageant hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha. Fallon has earned her BS and MBA from FAMU.
Danielle Gorrell - Dance: Danielle teaches Advance Ballet, Pointe and Jazz. She is a dedicated teacher who is fun and talented. Danielle graduated from Illinois State University, and is a member of the "Fever" dance team. She considers herself; self motivated, often imitated but never duplicated.
Tara Covington - Modeling: Under the watchful eye of Donna Davenport, Tara became a full time guest model in the annual FieldCrest fashion shows. Her mastery of body stance and alignment, as well as her taste in fashion is a direct result of her dedication to runway modeling. Tara is also skilled at backstage theater production.
LaKisha Hillard - Acting: When LaKisha completed high school she was offered a recording contract with Jive records and her parents decided to decline the opportunity. During her college years she began writing with various artists/producers, and acting. She has worked opposite Tatyana Ali (Fresh Prince). Angie Stone (R&B recording artist), Darin Henson (Soul Food), and Boris Kodjoe (Soul Food).
Carlton Easter - Acting Department Director: Carlton is a college professor, media producer and playwright who is well respected in corporate America as a talented video producer. A gifted playwright, Carlton is our resident play write and his credits include "Uzuri Umo", "Hidden Beauty", and "Can't you Hear the Music".
Jasmine Easter - Dance: As a child Jasmine always wanted to dance and at the age of five her mother enrolled her in FieldCrest. Jasmine eventually became involved with helping the students, and now she is a teacher. After college, she plans to come back to FieldCrest and teach dance classes because FieldCrest is a huge part of her life. It is where she started and where she plans to end. Jasmine says, "Dance is life and life is a dance, life is a journey and dance is the nutrition needed to carry on." If you are a dancer at heart it doesn't matter where life takes you, if you dance your feelings out you may find things easier to handle.
Tiffani Prophet - Dancing: Tiffani is a product of FieldCrest, where she developed passion and love for the performing arts. She was an active member of Flawless Dancers and the ABA Chicago Rock Stars Dance Team. Tiffani was a cast member for B.Fli's Production of "Israel's Daughter", and "Black Nativity".
Santella Napue - Acting: Santella started acting at an early age at her church. As a working actress she has been given the opportunity to perform in such original plays like "Hey Black Man Let Go of those Chains", and "Love Isn't Love". Today she currently teaches acting at FieldCrest.
LaShanda Slay - Dance Department Director: At the age of three La Shanda’s parents noticed her passion for dance, so they decided to enroll her at Fieldcrest School of Performing Arts. There her love and passion for the art of dance continued to grow. At the age of twelve she became a teacher’s assistant and by the age of sixteen a teacher. La Shanda has trained and prepared students for national dance competitions, Disney World performances and ballroom exhibitions. In addition, she has been able to utilize her skills with Chicago Public School students by preparing annual talent shows for students with special needs and coordinating productions for various charity events. As the Dance Director and Production Supervisor she is able to motivate all Fieldcrest students in a positive way. In most recent years La Shanda has joined the modeling department where she continues to instill confidence in Fieldcrest students.
Ashley Jackson - Dance: Ashley Jackson is a product of FieldCrest, and at the age of fifteen was given a chance to student teach. A devoted Fieldcrest student, Ashley has won regional and national competitions and participated in countless Fieldcrest productions.
Skilled in all types of dance, this is Ashley’s fourth year as the Hip Hop instructor.
Currently, Ashley attends National Louis University where she is finishing her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. In the future, she plans to work as an educator for the Chicago Public Schools and sponsor after-school programs highlighting the Arts.
Kevin Davenport - Director/Musical Summer Camp: Kevin is a product of FieldCrest. While attending high school Kevin worked the FieldCrest snack bar, the front desk, and is now the Director of Musical Summer Camp. He played 3 years of Collegiate Soccer. Freshman year he was ranked 15th Striker in the nation. In his junior year his team made 3rd in the nation. While attending college, Kevin became a personal trainer by appointment only, and CEO of Superior Class Entertainment, a promotional company. He brings his knowledge of sportsmanship and discipline to his students. Kevin will graduate from Lewis University in 2011.
Keli Wells - Vice President: Keli is a product of FieldCrest. She received a B.S. from Illinois State University and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Roosevelt University. As a winner of many dance competitions over the years, Keli has choreographed several national competition winning performances. As a teen she competed in "The National Tour of the Tap Dance Kid" where she placed as the first runner up behind her tap teacher Bril Barrett. Keli is the daughter of Donna Davenport, serves as President of " The Children Dance Theater Chicago, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Donna Davenport - President; CEO: For over thirty-five years Donna Davenport has devoted her time and energy to educating children through the fine arts. In 1977 Ms. Davenport founded FieldCrest. Class offerings were limited and total student enrollment was ten. In 2010 over 200 students enrolled in a wide variety of classes including dance, etiquette, modeling, and acting. Possessing a B.A. in Education, Ms. Davenport has remained active with a variety of organizations including the Illinois Arts Council, Southland Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Arts Alliance, and the Arts and Business Council. Ms. Davenport is also the founder of "The Children Dance Theater Chicago". |
